The Service in Plain Terms

When you subscribe to Modern House, you receive a configured automation pipeline: a cloud-hosted strategy runner connected to your broker via our API bridge, a backtesting engine loaded with historical OHLCV data, a real-time risk-control layer with per-trade and per-day limits, and a monitoring dashboard you access through your browser. There is no software to install. Setup takes one business day — we walk you through broker API key generation, strategy parameter configuration, and a mandatory backtest review before the system goes live. You receive a weekly performance summary by email and retain full access to raw execution logs at all times.

Service Components in Detail

Each component is active from day one of your subscription — nothing is gated behind a higher tier except the quantity limits listed in the pricing page.

  • Strategy Runner

Your strategy logic is defined via our rule-based editor or uploaded as a Python script. The runner executes it on a dedicated cloud instance, evaluates every market tick or candle close against your entry and exit conditions, and submits orders to your broker without human intervention. Execution logs are stored for 24 months.

  • Backtesting Engine

Load up to five years of tick-level or OHLCV data for forex pairs, East African equities, and major commodities. Run a backtest in under three minutes and receive a structured PDF report covering net P&L curve, maximum drawdown, Sharpe and Sortino ratios, average trade duration, and estimated slippage cost.

  • Risk Control Layer

Define your risk envelope once: maximum position size as a percentage of account equity, maximum daily drawdown in absolute USh or percentage terms, and a global kill switch that closes all positions and suspends the runner if the drawdown limit is hit. These controls operate at the infrastructure level, independently of the strategy logic.

  • Monitoring & Alerts

The stone-mint dashboard presents your equity curve, open positions, risk-utilisation gauge, and a chronological order log. Configure SMS and email alerts for order fills, drawdown warnings at 50% and 80% of your limit, and system health events like broker disconnection or runner restart.

  • Broker Integration

Modern House supports direct API integration with major retail brokers accessible from Uganda, including MetaTrader 4/5-compatible brokers and select ECN providers. Our API bridge normalises order types, handles re-authentication on session expiry, and logs every API call for audit purposes. New broker integrations are added quarterly.

The onboarding took about four hours from signing up to a live backtest. The team in Kasese walked me through setting my daily drawdown at 3% and explained why the default kill-switch setting is conservative. I appreciated that they did not push me to raise limits to 'improve performance' — they let the data speak.

What We Do Not Do — and Why That Matters

Modern House does not offer signal services, copy trading, or managed accounts. We do not supply trading strategies, make entry recommendations, or guarantee any level of trading performance. The platform is a tool: it executes the logic you define, applies the risk limits you set, and reports transparently on what happened. This boundary is intentional. It keeps our incentives clean — we earn from the software subscription, not from your trade volume — and it keeps you in full control of your own risk decisions. If you are looking for a signal service, we are not the right fit. If you have a strategy and need disciplined, monitored automation, we are.

Common Questions About the Service

Do I need coding experience to use Modern House?

No. The rule-based strategy editor covers the majority of common entry and exit patterns — moving average crossovers, RSI thresholds, breakout rules — without writing a single line of code. If you have a Python script already, we can host it directly. Our onboarding team will review your setup before going live regardless of approach.

Which brokers are supported?

We currently support any broker offering a MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 API, plus two direct ECN integrations. A full compatibility list is available on the contact page. We add new broker integrations quarterly based on user demand — if your broker is not listed, contact us and we will assess compatibility.

How quickly are orders executed after a signal?

Typical order submission latency from signal generation to broker API call is under one second on our standard infrastructure. Actual fill time depends on your broker's execution model and market conditions. We log both the submission timestamp and the broker confirmation timestamp so you can audit slippage precisely.

What happens if my internet connection drops?

The strategy runner operates on our cloud infrastructure, not on your local machine. A drop in your personal internet connection has no effect on live trading. You will simply be unable to view the dashboard until your connection is restored. All alerts continue to be sent via SMS during any dashboard outage.
